Linda's Story

Linda was diagnosed with borderline intellectual functioning (BIF). People with BIF may struggle with focusing, problem-solving, and retaining knowledge–all key skills for maintaining employment. They don’t always learn from their mistakes, may be impulsive, and have a habit of trusting people they shouldn’t.

Lacking the support that she needs, Linda's sister reported her as an unfit mother, and her children were taken from her. From a physically abusive relationship, she lost a child in the womb, and with a racist family, she was unable to bury her child. These are just some of Linda’s past traumas. Understanding her history and current intellectual and emotional struggles are vital to providing her with the help that she needs to be self-sufficient.
